Plasma Distribution

In order to retrofit engines with high energy plasma ignition systems, the high voltage signal from the coil / distributor has to be 'mixed' with the high current signal from the plasma module and the combined energy then delivered to the spark plug. This 'mixing' should ideally be done as close to the spark plug as possible with the high current signal traveling as short a distance as possible from the plasma module through zero resistance wires. The SparkAmp Ignition Module is equipped with a fault indicator LED, which can be used to determine if a single channel or ignition cable is faulty.

Stage I kits include RF suppression plasma cables with various boot configurations to fit a wide variety of vehicles. This setup minimizes EMI / RF intereference which may otherwise disrupt sensitive electronics and sensors, such as EFIEs which are popular with hypermilers and fuel efficiency technicians to boost up their fuel economy when coupled with plasma ignition systems.

Stage II kits include the plasma distribution bricks which provide 60kV of built in protection. This is the recommended setup for race engines which run a combination of high compression and/or high boost. This is also recommended for engines that run extremely hot which may require heavier duty ignition cables. Copper core, zero resistance cables MUST be used for the output connections going from the plasma distribution brick to the spark plugs.

The Molded RF Suppression Plasma cables are the latest in plasma automotive technology. Their design is optimal for easy installation and the design is the best solution to excessive RF and EMI noise that is rampant when zero resistance copper core ignition cables are used. The cable consists of two separate conductors, one carrying the high voltage energy from the distributor / coil, and the other carrying the high current plasma from the SparkAmp module. Both these conductors meet at the spark plug boot end where there is adequate high voltage (40 kV) and low voltage (5kV) protection so that upstream electronics are amply protected.
